Station was created in 2018 by British artist Stuart Semple who felt that there was a desperate need in his home-town for affordable, making spaces for artists.

The idea behind Station is to create an environment where conversation, creativity and good messy practical work can happen side-by-side. Station is about creating a strong foundation for artists to site their daily practice and develop challenging and progressive works.

Station really is for painters, sculptors, multimedia artists, image makers, who’s practice needs a day to day studio environment to flourish.

Rent is to be paid monthly in advance and whilst there is no fixed term we do require 1 months notice if you wish to move on from your space.

As we only have a small amount of space to share at this time (and spaces are heavily subsidised) we need to be selective, so studios will be allocated based on the merit of the work and the need of the artist.

We will not be able to provide space for commercial creatives such as graphic designers, app developers or artists who’s work is primarily for commercial clients. We love professional artists that sell their work, exhibit, perhaps publish but feel purely commercial creatives would be better suited elsewhere.

Studios are available by application only and artists will be invited to an interview to discuss their requirements and work.
